Kaj Ard is a very talented artist and skilled instructor. Kaj will guide you through these 4-3-1 day intensive, creative workshops. You will have fun while being introduced to new techniques that will enhance your current art practice. Plenty of time will be available to paint, take notes and experiment. This workshop could take your artwork to the next level!

You’ll try out all kinds of materials - lost and found, and any material can be used in your work. Once you know how to use structures and textures, you’ll have feedback time, talking about how much structure is enough in your painting. Very easily a piece becomes overdone so, get used to the idea of scratching and taking away while building up new layers.

Weather you paint figurative or abstract - the composition, lines, colours you choose and mix are essential. We’ll mainly use acrylic colours because they dry fast and allow to continue with next layers on the same day. We’ll paint on paper, cardboard and boards of different sizes. You’ll learn how to build up layers with paper, fillers, concrete, etc.

What also makes this workshop very special is that it will allow you to take advantage of being in Barcelona, one of the most artistic, cultural and beautiful cities in the world. You will have the opportunity to be inspired each day by visiting some of the many great galleries and museums, as well as visiting some of the famous Gaudi’s architecture buildings. As an example, you will be able to see some of the Catalan Masters like Picasso, Miro, Tapies, and visit some of the contemporary art museums like the MACBA and the latest jewel in town, the Museum of Catalan contemporary art Can Framis. We can organise these visits for you as bookings are in some cases essential.

To complete this special experience, we will organise a farewell evening with an open to the public exhibition at Studio 42 Art & Design Gallery where all participants will be able to showcase their selected artwork produced during the workshop.
